Planning- costume mood board

In my film there is going to be a montage of dates and in these shots i think that my two characters would look better in casual clothing as it shows that they are comfortable around each other which is what i want to show.
Another way of showing this may be the girl character wearing his hoodie which would be blue to represent a male colour and oversized to suggest it is his as he is bigger than her.
There may be some scenes where the characters are wearing more formal dressy clothing  in the shots where the situation is more serious, such as the date where he asks her to be his girlfriend and moves in with him.  Therefore, she could wear a red dress to represent love and romance between them.

The bottom left image is the type of clothing the event planner will be wearing as she is tied into the film through business. She will be wearing mostly black and some glasses as they usually suggest that a character is knowledgable which is what i want her to be portrayed as.

Planning- casting

My short film involves two main characters and shows a montage of their past showing multiple dates and events they have been to. In one of the shots we will be showing the couple moving in together which in reality would suggest they are in their 20's. However, only actors around our own age are available to us therefore, we have decided to us two mature peers who have previous experience in acting.

For the male character we wanted him to have some strong facial attributes and ideally to be tall as in my film i want the male to be more dominant and masculine throughout the film. Our male actor will be Ollie Poole and throughout the film he will need to show a range of different emotions towards his other half.


Another reason for using these two characters is that in reality they are a couple which means that in our film there will already be a relationship between the both and they wont have to fake the romance aspect of the film. Meaning that we will hopefully be able to produce a more authentic romance genre.










The second character is a girl as we wanted to involve a heterosexual couple within our film as last year we did the opposite and we think that we should change it for this year. The female actress that we have chosen is Emily Farr as she fits the role to our film well and she is also on my A level media course currently meaning that she also has experience about conventions of a romance genre. For our female actress we wanted feminine attributes and for her to be smaller than the male which she is.

Planning- age rating

The age rating for our film as there are not any explicit scenes that will be shown. The reason its at an age rating of 12 is because of the story line, the idea of romance and the breaking of a relationship would be suitable to those over the age of 12. In addition, after looking at a number of other romantic films, this appears to be a suitable age rating for many films. We chose as well, to not have any explicit scenes to widen our target audience.

The shots will be close and intimate to show the chemistry between the two characters. The first few shots will not flow as expected, they will appear as a montage. There may be a few low angle shots to create romantic shadows as well as a few obstructed shots to create mystery.
The film will be set in Autumn, so there will be bright colours to create an aesthetic. The characters will be in winter wear. The makeup and hair will fit with the season and be very natural and effortless. This will make it very realistic allowing the target audience to relate to the circumstances.
